Report “grease devils” in Facebook

Certain fake Facebook accounts are being used to spread false rumors regarding the prevailing situation in the country, according to the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team.

We have received numerous complaints regarding such fake accounts, Senior Engineer (Security) of the SLCERT Rohana Palliyaguruge said.

The Computer Emergency Response Team requests the public to report such counterfeit accounts which have been created in Facebook, the social-networking website, so they can be blocked.

Accounts created under the name “Grease Yaka” have also been reported, Mr. Palliyaguruge told Ada Derana.

He requested Facebook users to directly report these “Grease Yaka” accounts to the Facebook Company, “Because giving unwanted publicity to these incidents could pose a threat to national security.”

As not only any one individual but the entire society could be harmed through this, these false accounts should be reported by Facebook users themselves, he pointed out.
