Madhumadhava elected to Colombo
 
 
Popular singer Madhumadhava Aravinda has been elected a member of the Colombo Municipal Council on the UPFA ticket.

He polled 5,405 preferential votes and is placed ninth on the UPFA list.

Actor and presenter Sudath Appuhamy topped the UNP’s preferential votes list in the Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council.

He secured 4,753 votes.

Mr. Appuhamy plays the role of a driver in ‘Charturya 2.’
Meanwhile, Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratne, who failed to impress at several past elections, has finally got elected as a people’s representative.

He contested for the Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council and received 2,171 votes.
 
 
Police in VIP security told to wear uniforms
 
 

Police personnel detailed for VIP security should wear their uniforms during duty hours, police headquarters has ordered.

Police spokesman SSP Maxi Proctor said the directive was in force from today (Oct. 11).
