A 10-year-old girl has been sexually abused by an unidentified person at a school in Akuressa, Matara.

The incident yesterday (Sept. 03) resulted in a tense situation as southern province education ministry Chandima Rasaputra visited the location.

The girl, who had accompanied her mother to clean the classroom of the younger sister, was abused, while a party was underway at the school, which served as an examination coordination centre.

She has been admitted to Matara Hospital.
