A Walking Path and Outdoor Gym constructed at
Malabe was vested on the public at a function held on 28th October.

declared open by Secretary Defence and Urban Developmen Mr. Gotabaya
Rajapaksa.
Two Commemorative Plaques for walking path and
outdoor gym was unveiled by Secretary Defence. Hon. Minister Wimal
Weerawansa joined the Secretary Defence in opening the new public

Built in a scenic setting amidst lake side the
walking path is yet another addition to the many such facilities
built under the Colombo Development Project. Under the Secretary
Defence's ambitious plan to develop Colombo into world class city,
the clean green people friendly city concept was adopted and is
being implemented in all development projects.
The walking path and Outdoor Gym was constructed
developing a marsh land. Much attention was paid to retain the
natural beauty of the environment during the construction. Already a
number of such facilities have been constructed in many areas
including Independence Square, Mabole, Nawela, Bellanwila, and
Battaramulla. Construction work was carried out by Sri Lanka Army's
Corps of Engineers in collaboration with the Department of Land Reclamation.
Hon. Minister Wimal Weerawansa, Chairman of SLLRDC Mr Harshan
De Silva and Ministry officials were present at the occasion.
